Fresh Youth Initiatives offers resources and opportunities to 1,300 children and teens annually, in my childhood neighborhood of Washington Heights.
This community was one of the NYC neighborhoods earliest and hardest hit by the pandemic. Students are now showing the effects of two years of remote learning — FYI is combating academic and mental health setbacks among youth while continuing hunger relief and social services to stabilize vulnerable families.
My fellow board members and I are raising $300,000 in honor of FYI’s 30th anniversary. Funds will support the organization as it launches a new community mental health clinic in the fall.
