THE PROBLEM: NYC YOUTH IN CRISIS

35% of NYC youth report a lack of extracurricular support for academics and tutoring or career, internship, and job opportunities.

58% of NYC youth report wanting or needing mental health services from a professional, particularly youth in the Bronx and Manhattan.

>50 % of NYC youth who want/need mental health services report not receiving them.

Northern Manhattan reflects the diversity and cultural richness of New York City as a whole, while also reflecting the core challenges that impede mobility and well-being.

• Support first-generation students with literacy intervention, tutoring, college access programs, and job readiness skills.

THE CAMPAIGN’S THREE MAJOR GOALS

Improve infrastructure to support program growth

Goal: Raise $300,000 by June 30, 2024

  • We must build infrastructure to support our growth. Gifts to the campaign will ensure FYI’s continued growth by funding:

    • New hires for the mental health clinic: psychiatrist, clinicians, billing and administrative staff.

    • A HIPAA-compliant database to capture participant demographics, needs, progress and results, which will drive program effectiveness.

Establish a barrier-free mental health clinic

Goal: Raise $400,000 by June 30, 2025

  • Gifts to the campaign will help launch this crucial service by early 2025, ensuring that youth and the adults in their lives have timely access to:

Culturally and linguistically accessible mental health care services.

    • Early screening for learning disabilities — often not accessible to our population.

    • Support groups for specific issues such as bereavement, household stressors, and identity-based transitions.

Expand access to FYI’s signature youth and family programs

Goal: Raise $500,000 by June 30, 2026

  • • FYI’s proven, evidence-based academic programs that help children achieve their goals and prepare for college and career.

•Readily available, culturally appropriate social-emotional learning programs and mental health services.

•More afterschool and summer enrichment programs that put young people on track for 21st century careers.

•Expanded family services to ensure that all of our youth participants have food and housing security.

Your investment today opens the door to successful futures for youth.
