The Welcome Program is a literacy-intensive afterschool program serving 120 elementary school students in grades K through 5 who are recent immigrants or the children of immigrants. Comprehensive language-learning support helps children acquire English fluency in a nurturing environment that bridges their culture of origin to their new home. Social-emotional support helps children cope with the overwhelming emotions resulting from being in a new culture, learn a new language, make new friends, and try to keep up in school.

The Welcome Program is located at PS 128 in Washington Heights. Program runs daily during the school year from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm and summers for seven weeks from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Special thanks to the generous support of
