The Welcome Program is a literacy-intensive after-school and Saturday program serving 200 elementary school students in grades K through 5 who are recent immigrants or the children of immigrants.
Comprehensive language-learning support helps children acquire English fluency in a nurturing environment that bridges their culture of origin to their new home. Social-emotional supports help children to adapt to a new culture, learn a new language, make new friends, and succeed in school.
The Welcome Program is located at PS 128 in Washington Heights. Program runs daily during the school year from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm and summers for seven weeks from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
