FYI Among Youth-Serving Organizations Chosen by the City to Expand Afterschool Services

NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, joined by Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña and Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) Commissioner Bill Chong announced the selection of the 271 providers that will oversee expanded afterschool for middle school students beginning this September.  FYI was one of the selected providers and will implement a new afterschool program at Amistad Dual Language School (MS 311) in Inwood.

“We are honored to have been one of the providers chosen to be a part of NYC’s expansion of programs as part of the DeBlasio administration’s commitment to ensure that youth in underserved communities have access to high quality afterschool programs.  This comes at a time when Fresh Youth Initiatives has been preparing to expand our services and we’re so excited to serve more young people in Upper Manhattan. We’ve enjoyed a long-time relationship with Amistad and this will be a natural extension of our partnership,” said FYI Executive Director Steve Ramos.
